What is Lactoferrin?

Lactoferrin is a glycoprotein belonging to the transferrin family and is one of the most important factors of innate non-antibody immunity. Apo-lactoferrin (form of lactoferrin without iron) is more active than lactoferrin (up to 5 times more).
Glycoprotein is present in our immune system and is strategically located on mucous membranes and organic secretions, playing a fundamental role in the first line of defense against microbial infections.

Why the Apo-lactoferrin in liposomes?

Liposomes are lipid spheres with a structure similar to those of cell membranes.

They mainly consist of natural phospholipids arranged in a double layer which allow for encapsulating active ingredients within their structure.

The preparation is carried out in specialized cutting-edge laboratories.

Due its nature Apo-lactoferrin is unstable and is particularly sensitive to the proteolytic activity of pepsin in the gastric tract and to proteolytic hydrolysis in the bowel. This causes the protein denaturation, poor absorption and its inactivation.

Thanks to modern microicapsulation technology, these problems are overcome and it is a first advanced formulation that allows to guarantee the efficacy of the glycoprotein.
